Book News: September 1, 2017

Check out this week’s happenings!

For those who didn’t already know:

#####

Victoria Schwab dropped some massive news this week when she announced that she’s signed a four-book, $1 million deal with Tor that includes another three books set in the Shades of Magic world! I really enjoyed the Shades of Magic trilogy, so I’m very excited for her to continue writing in it. You can read the announcement about the deal in the link from the first tweet, and some more information on what to expect from the new trilogy in the second tweet.

In other exciting book news, Sightwitch by Susan Dennard has a cover! I actually had no idea she was writing Sightwitch, an illustrated prequel novella to the Witchlands series. It’s scheduled to come out in January, though I believe this means that the third book, Bloodwitch, has been pushed back to 2019. Learn more about the novella here.

The other cover reveal I was excited to see this week is for Lenora Bell’s upcoming book, What a Difference a Duke Makes, which is scheduled to be published in March 2018. Romance covers in general aren’t usually that interesting for me, but I was excited to see this one because I hadn’t heard anything yet about an upcoming book, and I really enjoyed Bell’s Disgraceful Dukes series. Also, if you follow the link in the tweet, you can enter to win a $25 Hurricane Harvey donation to a charity of your choice, copies of her first three books, and a $35 Barnes and Noble gift card. U.S. only, ends September 7.

Harper Perennial announced its 2017 Olive Editions. I actually don’t own any Olives yet, but I think the collection is such a fun idea and they’re super pretty. Even though I already own a copy of Bad Feminist and love the original cover, I’m considering getting a second one in this edition.

Also, I don’t watch Game of Thrones (I feel like one of the few people who don’t, but I didn’t like the books, so I don’t feel the need to watch the show), but apparently John Snow’s butt was a thing in the season seven finale. Romance novelist Alisha Rai tweeted that she thought it would make her top 10 list, which prompted outcry over what could be ranked higher and inspired this hilarious (NSFW) thread:
