I’ve been making a push recently to whittle down my physical TBR shelf, but the problem with that is that my TBR shelf doesn’t include the books I want to reread. And that list has been getting really, really long lately, so rather than pull all of those books off of my shelves and put them on my TBR shelf, I’m going to list them here and use this as a reminder to go back and reread things as my TBR pile shrinks.
I’ve already started rereading Harry Potter, so I really don’t need to list it here, but I will since I still have a lot of series left. The last time I remember reading these books was for a Harry Potter class I took during my sophomore year of college, and I graduated more than three years ago, so it’s definitely time to pick them up again! I’ve already made it through Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which you can read my review of here, and I plan to slowly continue making my way through the series. We’ll see if I keep up the
slow pace or if I wind up becoming so invested that I have to race through the rest of the series!
Another series that I would really like to reread is His Dark Materials. I read these when I was fairly young and remember loving them, but I really couldn’t tell you anymore what happened in them. I really want to read La Belle Sauvage, the first book in a new trilogy set in the same world, but I need to go back and refresh myself on the series before I can pick up the new book.
On the same shelf is my Sabriel trilogy, which I’ve also been meaning to reread. I know I reread them in high school and loved them, but I really couldn’t say if I’ve read them since then or not. I have read Clariel and Goldenstar, which just reminded me how much I love Garth Nix’s writing style and world building, so I have no doubt that I’ll still thoroughly enjoy these books, but I think it’s time for a refresher.
With the completion of the series, I really want to go back and reread the Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy. I haven’t reread any of the books, so it will be really interesting to read A Court of Thorns and Roses now that A Court of Mist and Fury has happened, but it will be worth it if for no other reason than to reread A Court of Mist and Fury, which is possibly one of my favorite books of all time. I think part of the magic of that book was how much it caught me off guard, but I have no doubt that it will be just as good the second time around, plus maybe this time I’ll actually slow down and read the books instead of flying through them all as quickly as possible to find out what happens!
Another old series I’ve been wanting to reread is the Song of the Lioness quartet by Tamora Pierce. This is another series I loved at a young age, but I don’t think I’ve read them since at least high school. I’ve had part if not all of a mismatched set for years that I cobbled together from used book sales, but when I discovered Book Outlet, I went back and bought all matching sets of The Song of the Lioness quartet, the Protector of the Small quartet, and The Immortals quartet. Of course I have to break in all of these new copies! So eventually I’d like to go back and reread all of the Tortall books.
A Wrinkle in Time is another old series that I loved as a kid but haven’t read in years, and with the movie coming out (the trailer is amazing!), I’d really like to go back and reread them. This is another series where I had mismatched books and decided to buy a new matching set, so they also need to be broken in!
The last fantasy series I’d like to reread is the original Poison Study trilogy by Maria V. Snyder. I really liked returning to the world of Ixia and Sitia with her new Study trilogy, but it’s just been so long that I feel like a lot of the details were lost on me. So it’d be fun to go back and reread the original trilogy and possibly some of Snyder’s other trilogies as well.
I also have two romance series I’d like to reread, both of which I read in high school or college but I haven’t reread in years even though they’re now classics in the genre. One is the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn and the other is the Wallflowers quartet and the related Hathaways series by Lisa Kleypas. I recently picked up Devil in Winter, the third book in the Wallflowers quartet
, after reading the book about their son, Devil in Spring, but I remember Devil in Winter not being my favorite in the quartet (the horror, I know; it’s usually everyone’s favorite), so I definitely need to go back and reread them. Plus these stories are still regularly talked about in the romance world, but I don’t remember the specifics about them anymore, so I need to remedy that!
To wrap up the list, I also want to mention a few Jane Austen novels that I need to reread. I regularly pick up Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility and I recently reread Persuasion, but I don’t think I’ve read Emma, Mansfield Park, and Northanger Abbey since high school, so I’d like to take the time to do that. Plus I have all of these gorgeous copies that I want to break in and show off!
Do you reread much? What books have you been meaning to cycle back to again? Let me know in the comments!
I reread constantly! Ohhh there’s another Wrinkle in Time movie coming out?! I hope it’s really good.😊

It looks awesome! Oprah, Mindy Kaling, and Reece Witherspoon are the witches, so I really don’t think you can go wrong.

You should read it before the movie comes out in March! It’s a super short read.
