Book News: January 19, 2018

Check out the latest happenings!

Bloomsbury has announced the 20th anniversary editions of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets! I was wondering if they’d be issuing entire anniversary sets or not, and it sounds like they definitely are. At first I wasn’t thrilled that they swapped the colors of the covers so that the hardcovers are now colored and the paperbacks are black, but it sounds like they’ll be alternating the colors throughout the series so that they’ll be striped on your shelves, which is kind of neat.

I’ll admit, this news is making me very happy that I only picked up one of the anniversary editions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, as I can’t imagine collecting eight more sets of Harry Potter. I think I have plenty already! But a girl can dream…

EXCLUSIVE: we’re thrilled to reveal the news you’ve all been waiting for. Stunning House Editions of HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS, illustrated by Levi Pinfold, will be released on 28th June to mark the 20th anniversary of first publication of HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS on 2nd July 2018. The hardbacks will be in each house colour with artwork in black and striped sprayed edges. The paperbacks will be black with artwork in the corresponding house colours. All seven books in the series will be issued in these highly collectable House Editions – dates to be revealed! The colours for each of the House Editions in the Harry Potter series will alternate between black and the house colour, for the paperbacks and hardbacks, to create a beautiful set for your bookshelf! In other Harry Potter news, Scholastic has announced that Brian Selznick will be illustrating seven new covers to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the American printing of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. They’ll be released in July 2018.

I’m not familiar with Selznick’s work, but I’m still really excited to see what he comes up with! Though a small part of me hopes I don’t love them too much so I don’t feel compelled to buy yet another set of Harry Potter books.

Rick Riordan’s newest book has a cover! I am embarrassed to say I still haven’t read the second book in his Trials of Apollo series, so I definitely have to get on that before the release of The Burning Maze on May 1, 2018!

#####

We have a cover for Eloisa James’ new book! It’s called Too Wilde to Wed and will be released on May 29, 2018. I’m a terrible person and still haven’t read James’ three past releases despite owning signed copies of two of them, so excuse me while I go correct that oversight.

#####

We also have a cover for Julia Quinn’s new book, The Other Miss Bridgerton, which is schedule for publication on May 22, 2018.

#####

I guess we’re on a role with cover reveals, as we now have a cover for Zoraida Cordova’s upcoming book, Bruja Born, which will be released on June 5, 2018. It actually looks like they’re doing a cover redesign for this series, which I’m disappointed in since I loved the original cover of Labyrinth Lost so much, though these covers are also cool.

#####

And last but not least, we have a cover for Rebecca Roanhorse’s upcoming debut novel, Trail of Lightning, which will be published on June 26, 2018.

So many cover reveals this week! Which one are you most excited for? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Oh, new Harry Potters covers! I do have to say that I don’t think I will ever like any covers as much as I do the ones I have. Since they are all I am used to, I really just can’t see myself ever enjoying any other ones! (Except the illustrated edition covers, of course.)
