Book News: February 2, 2018

Check out the latest happenings!

Don’t forget to enter for a chance to win a signed copy of Iron Gold by Pierce Brown! My giveaway is open through tonight to U.S. residents. All of the details are here.

have to start out by squealing over the cover for Alyssa Cole’s upcoming book, A Duke by Default. It’s sooooo gorgeous, and I love that you can actually go on Etsy and buy the dress used on the cover! Plus this book sounds really fun. It’s a contemporary book with a female swordmaker and a secret Scottish duke and I can’t wait to read it! It will be available on July 31, 2018, which is so far away right now!

#####

We also have a cover for Tessa Dare’s new book, The Governess Game! I love Dare’s books so much and this one sounds super cute, so waiting until August 28 to read this is going to be so hard!

In other exciting news, we’ll be getting three Sarah J. Maas books this year! I knew about A Court of Frost and Starlight and the final Throne of Glass book, but I didn’t realize there was a Throne of Glass compendium coming out this year. Also, I think the date for the last Throne of Glass book has been pushed back? Don’t quote me on this, but I think it used to have a September release date. Regardless, it’s coming!! I can’t wait for the title and cover reveal!

Speaking of A Court of Frost and Starlight, we have a cover! I’m not sure the cover does all that much for me (I’m not the biggest fan of Maas’ covers in general), but I love the border, and I can’t wait to read this book!

And heeere it is! The cover for A Court of Frost and Starlight!! ❄️✨🏔✨❄️ This might just be my favorite cover yet (the Starfall gown!), and a big part of that is because the amazing @charliebowater created the stunning border! Every time I look at the border, I discover more hidden details that bring such a huge smile to my face. I hope you guys love this cover as much as I do! 😁 ACOFAS releases on May 1st, 2018, and is available for pre-order now! It’s a tale that’s a bit longer than a novella and takes place between the events of ACOWAR and the upcoming spinoff books. Can’t wait for you to read it!! 💕💜💖💜💕 #acourtoffrostandstarlight #acofas #acotar #acourtofthornsandroses #acourtofmistandfury #acomaf #starfall #charliebowater #eeeeeee

I have two more covers for you! Rick Riordan’s imprint has released the covers for its upcoming books The Storm Runner by J.C. Cervantes, due out in September 2018, and Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee, due out in January 2019. They’re super colorful.

Oh hey, they’re doing a special edition of The Hate U Give! It will include a letter from the author, an excerpt from the story that inspired the book, a map of Garden Heights, and more. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it, so if you haven’t picked up a copy yet, you should really consider getting this one!

#####

In preorder news, if you submit proof of purchase you can get a really neat poster to go with the upcoming Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. Details for the offer can be found in the link below. I’m pretty excited about this book because it sounds awesome and am planning to attend the launch party here in New York.

If you haven’t already, be sure to sign up for emails from Tor.com! They sent out an email earlier this week with free ebook copies of The Witches of Lychford by Paul Cornell and Killing Gravity by Corey J. White for subscribers, and I imagine they’ll be starting up their monthly book club soon, too, where they send out more free books (assuming these aren’t part of that—I’m not entirely sure).

#####

And on a sad note, Ursula K. Le Guin passed away last week. I actually haven’t read any of her books yet, though of course I’ve been meaning to for a while. But after seeing the outpouring of support from a number of prominent authors, including some of my favorites, it’s definitely something I want to remedy soon. Let me know in the comments where you think I should start. I’m leaning towards either The Wizard of Earthsea or The Left Hand of Darkness, but we’ll see.

So much news from this week’s book news installment! I love seeing all of the cover reveals; I think A Duke by Default is probably my favorite. Let me know your favorite cover reveal in the comments!
