I actually have a ton of other books I want to read this month, but after having a bit of a rigid TBR in February, I kind of want to leave things a bit looser in March. Of course, as I say that, I still put seven books on this list, so yeah.

Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge

I think Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race was the first book I bought in 2018, and I somehow still haven’t gotten around to it even though I’m excited to read it. I really want to stick to my goal of reading books within three months of purchase, so I need to read this sometime in March in order to keep to that goal.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is another book I bought in early January that I’m running out of time to read before my three months are up, so I’m going to get to it this month. I’ve heard so many amazing things about this book and I’m really excited to finally read it!

Grant by Ron Chernow

So I definitely did not finish Grant in February, as expected, though I did make it through his time as a Civil War general. I’m really enjoying it and have definitely made some good progress, but it’s been hanging out on my bedside table long enough, so I’m prioritizing this book in March.

Buddenbrooks by Thomas Mann

I know I said in my February TBR that Buddenbrooks is the one book I wanted to get to in February, but it totally didn’t happen. I had a lot of other books I wound up prioritizing, so I’m ok with that, but I really need to give it a chance in March and start reading it, even if I wind up deciding to not finish it.

The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness

This is another book that I listed in my February TBR that I didn’t quite make it to in February. I genuinely want to read The Book of Life and conclude the trilogy, I just ran out of time in February, so I suspect it’s something I’ll read pretty early in March.

A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas

A Study in Scarlet Women is my book club’s pick for April. I’ve actually been wanting to read this for a while because I’ve heard good things and I love that it involves a female Sherlock Holmes, so I’m excited that my book club is giving me the nudge to finally read it. Also, I recently realized that this would count for the Read Harder task of reading a mystery by a woman of color.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

I think I want A Court of Thorns and Roses to be my reread pick for March. I’ve been wanting to reread this series for a while because I love A Court of Mist and Fury so much, and I haven’t reread ACOTAR since ACOMAF came out, and I’m interested to see how different of a reading experience it is. I might decide to make a substitution, though, we’ll see. I’ll definitely be rereading something this month!

So even though I claim to want a looser TBR, I clearly still have a lot of books I want to prioritize in March. I also need to read one more book from my list of books I purchased in 2017 to maintain my goal of reading four a month to shrink that list, but I have so many books on that list that I want to read that I’m not entirely sure where to start, so it’ll be fun to play it by ear.

I also went a little crazy with book buying at the end of January, beginning of February (…and the end of February), and while I have time before my three-month deadline to read them is up, I’d like to make a significant dent on them.
