I love putting these posts together, as a shopping list and reminder of all of the books I’m looking forward to reading in the coming months if nothing else. There are a few really great ones coming out this summer, so keep reading to see what I think should be on your radar!
The Queer Principles of Kit Webb by Cat Sebastian (June 8)
Cat Sebastian is easily one of my favorite authors, and her new releases are always highly anticipated! I have actually read The Queer Principles of Kit Webb already (review coming soon!), but I was especially looking forward to it because it involved highway robbery and sword dueling.
Capture the Crown by Jennifer Estep (July 6)
I really enjoyed Estep’s Crown of Shards trilogy, so I was excited to hear Gemma would be getting her own trilogy! She’s a character we meet as a child in the first trilogy, though I assume you don’t need to read those books to enjoy Capture the Crown. I can’t wait to see what Estep has in store for her! I have an arc of this one, so keep your eyes out for a review closer to the release date!
Last Guard by Nalini Singh (July 20)
A new Psy/Changeling book always belongs on this list! I’ve heard good early reviews of Last Guard, and I can’t wait to fall in love with these characters myself and see how Nalini furthers the wider plot of the Psy/Changeling Trinity world!
Devil in Disguise by Lisa Kleypas (July 27)
I’m so sorry, I’m a broken record at this point, but how does a new Lisa Kleypas not belong on my list of most anticipated books?! Sometimes I wish Kleypas would branch out beyond the Wallflowers, but I can’t deny that I’m a huge fan of returning to them and reading about their children, so I was excited that Westcliff and Lillian’s daughter was the heroine of this one! I actually already read an advanced copy of Devil in Disguise, so you know the drill: expect a review closer to the release date!
Role Model by Rachel Reid (August 10)
I cannot truly express how excited I am for a new Game Changers book from Rachel Reid. I think Role Model promises to be an interesting one, with a grumpy/sunshine dynamic and a hero who was a sympathetic character stuck in a toxic friendship with a bully in a previous book. But I can’t deny that I’m also incredibly excited to get glimpses of Ilya and Shane (and Wyatt!). And it means we’re one step closer to the Shane and Ilya sequel!
I’m Only Wicked with You by Julie Anne Long (August 24)
This one’s tough. I was so looking forward to getting another Palace of Rogues book after how much I loved the first two. They were some of my favorite books of 2020! So of course this was going to be on this list. But the nature of arcs is that sometimes I read one before I actually publish these lists, and, well. I actually DNFed I’m Only Wicked with You. I decided to keep it on here since it was one of my most anticipated reads before I read it, but having read it, I can’t really recommend it. I’ll share more of my thoughts when we get closer to the release date. Though to be fair, I saw a number of underwhelmed reviews, and then the release date got pushed back from May to August, so maybe there have been significant edits since then? That’s pure speculation, but still.
The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang (August 31)
I have been looking forward to this book for years! Helen Hoang quickly became a new favorite of mine with The Kiss Quotient, and she really solidified that with The Bride Bet, so I can’t wait to see what she’s going to do next. Especially since the hero of The Heart Principle is Quan, who we met in a previous book!

Are you planning to read any of these books this summer? Are there any new releases I didn’t include that you think should be on my radar? Let me know in the comments!
I really need to finish the Crown of Shards trilogy because I too am excited for Capture the Crown!! But I still haven’t done that part yet. Oops.

You do! But it’ll be there when you’re ready for it, and then maybe you can binge some sequels with it!
