So I started putting this list together on a sticky note, then upgraded it to a Twitter thread before finally deciding it need its own proper blog post. Of course, I’ve since read a few of the books I put on this list since for some reason I didn’t publish it immediately, but I’ve also added more! So keep reading for a list of all the Christmas romances I’m hoping to read this year.

God Rest Ye, Royal Gentlemen by Rhys Bowen

So I can already cross God Rest Ye, Royal Gentlemen off my list because this is one of the two Christmas books I read that inspired me to make a list in the first place! I’ve been enjoying the Royal Spyness series for a while, and it just so happened that this latest one is set during Christmas, so I held off on reading it when it came out in October so I would feel more prepared for Christmas when I picked it up! It was a fun addition to the series, though it’ll be interesting to see where it goes as WWII creeps closer and closer to the timeline of these books.

A Rogue in Winter by Grace Burrowes

A Rogue in Winter is the other one that inspired this list and that I’m writing down so I can cross off! I’ve been enjoying Burrowes’ Rogues to Riches series a lot and was very intrigued when she announced a holiday novella with the local vicar. This was a short, lovely little historical Christmas novella that I enjoyed a lot. Definitely check it out if you want a snowed in romance between two lonely hearts.

A Second Chance Road Trip for Christmas by Jackie Lau

I read and really enjoyed Lau’s other Christmas novella, One Bed for Christmas, but never picked this up because second chance isn’t my favorite trope. But then I finally read the first book in this series, A Match Made for Thanksgiving, and immensely enjoyed the family and the matchmaking parents and grandparents, so I immediately went out and bought A Second Chance Road Trip for Christmas! I held off initially on reading it since I wasn’t ready for Christmas at the time, but I just read it the other week and really enjoyed it, though One Bed for Christmas is still my favorite. The inflatable T-rex costume is hard to beat!

I also realized when looking up some of Lau’s titles that she has another Christmas romance, Her Pretend Christmas Date, that I might also have to check out this season. If you haven’t read any of these and are interested, she actually just released a bindup of all of her Christmas novellas that is currently on sale for a dollar!

Merry Inkmas by Talia Hibbert

Ok, I got Merry Inkmas literally years ago and do not understand how I haven’t read it yet!! I really enjoy Hibbert’s books and keep wanting to read this, but then wait for Christmas, and then forget about it at Christmas, and then rediscover it later when it’s not Christmas, and I am breaking the cycle this year and reading this book!!

Wrapped Up in You by Talia Hibbert

I’m not sure why I never got around to reading Wrapped Up in You when it was released last year — I think I just didn’t have the bandwidth for navigating Kobo and figuring out how to buy this since it’s a Kobo original. But I have since figured it out and it is now loaded and ready in the Kobo app on my phone! I’m so excited for all the holiday goodness that Talia Hibbert will be delivering this year.

The Mistletoe Motive by Chloe Liese

Speaking of Kobo originals, I saw the cover reveal and announcement for The Mistletoe Motive the other week and thought it sounded really cute! It’s an enemies-to-lovers set in a bookstore at Christmas, and I always love Leni Kaufman’s cover designs. Preordering this is what finally prompted me to figure out Kobo and buy that Talia Hibbert book already, and it’s what reminded me that I should really make a list this year since I have a couple of platforms of books to keep track of now! 

Wrapped by Rebekah Weatherspoon

Wrapped is another Christmas novella I picked up last year that got a little lost in the shuffle, and the holidays were over before I ever had a chance to read it! I have no idea what it’s about, but I enjoy Weatherspoon’s writing and am excited to finally read it this holiday season!

Sweetest Regret by Meredith Duran

I saw some people talking on Twitter or Discord or something the other day about Meredith Duran’s holiday novella, Sweetest Regret, and how much they love it. I’ve been meaning to read Duran’s books for ages and don’t have any other historicals on my list that I haven’t read yet, so I went ahead and picked up a copy! 

Our Favorite Song by Anita Kelly

I’ve seen a lot of rave reviews of Anita Kelly’s novellas and upcoming debut novel, but for some reason wasn’t convinced to buy one myself until someone mentioned that Our Favorite Song, while not set at Christmas, is still a holiday novella that takes place largely in the weeks before Christmas. It seemed like the perfect excuse to finally buy this one, and I figured I should add it to this list to make sure I read it this year, too!

I know there are zillions of Christmas romances that I haven’t even touched on that I could be reading this season, but these are the ones I most want to prioritize this year!
