Books I Want to Reread

I already have a list of books I’m hoping to reread in 2022 that I included in my 2022 Reading Goals post, but I noticed the other day that my 2022 reading so far has largely been reading exclusively from my favorite authors. After having such a lackluster reading year in 2023, it’s been really nice to change it up! This mindset has gotten me thinking about more books I’d like to reread, so I figured I’d start a list, because lists are awesome.

The reread I’m currently in the middle of is the Innkeepers series by Ilona Andrews. This wasn’t planned, but it started for two reasons. First is that Ilona Andrews are releasing the Innkeepers books as GraphicAudio adaptations, meaning they get full casts and sound effects. So I listened to the first one and really enjoyed it! I kind of wanted to wait and just read the sequels as audio adaptations, too, but I’ve also been reading the Edge books for the first time as I close in on the last of Ilona Andrews’ backlist. And since George and Jack become central characters by the end of those books, and they make an appearance in the second Innkeeper book, I couldn’t restrain myself. I decided to go for it and am currently in the middle of a full reread. Once all of the audio adaptations are out, I’ll have to go back and listen to them again! I’m thinking I’ll do that with my husband since I’m fairly certain he’ll enjoy them, too.

I mentioned in my 2022 Reading Goals post that I wanted to finish my reread of Tessa Dare’s backlist, and I’m getting close! I just reread Do You Want to Start a Scandal, which is delightful! That means I only have the three Girl Meets Duke books left, which I’m looking forward to getting to.

Another book I’ve been wanting to reread for a while is The Widow of Rose House by Diana Biller. I just read The Brightest Star in Paris and loved it, and I think between that and riding the Tessa Dare high, I have a renewed interest in reading some of my favorite historicals, which brought The Widow of Rose House back to the front of my mind. I’m thinking I’ll reread that and The Brightest Star in Paris together, because why not?

Speaking of historicals, I also feel the urge all of a sudden to go back and reread some of my favorite Courtney Milan historicals. I’m thinking The Duke Who Didn’t, The Devil Comes Courting, and The Suffragette Scandal. And maybe The Heiress Effect. They’re just all so good!!

There have also been a lot of people on Twitter reading Lisa Kleypas’ Ravenals books lately. I’ve reread the Wallflowers and the Hathaways in the last couple of years, so it seems like a good idea to reread the Ravenals, too!

Of course, looking at my bookshelves reminds me that I have a bunch of Mary Balogh and Patricia Cabot historicals I’ve been wanting to reread! I don’t remember those ones at all, though, since I first read them in high school, but my mom has been on a huge Mary Balogh kick lately, which is inspiring me to go for it. That and the fact that I’ve gone through almost all of my old books from high school and gotten rid of a lot, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it for Balogh and Cabot. I think rereading them will help me make up my mind on whether or not to keep them.

I’m also reading Black Love Matters: Real Talk on Romance, Being Seen, and Happily Ever Afters right now, and it’s reminding me that it’s been a criminally long time since I’ve read an Alyssa Cole novel! I’ve been particularly wanting to reread her Reluctant Royals series (only the first of which is Black Love, btw), and this rereading mood I’m in makes me think I’ll finally get to it this year.

Speaking of rereading favorites, my reread of the Psy/Changeling series has been on hold way too long! I just got my paperback copy of Last Guard in the mail last week, which of course makes me want to reread it. But I also really want to reread all of the Psy/Changeling Trinity books! But I’m halfway through rereading the original series, and I think I should stick to that before rereading the Trinity books. Then again, I’ve been really slow to get back to it because the next couple of books I have ahead of me aren’t my favorites, even though I enjoy them. So maybe I should just reread the Trinity books and then get back to the main series and finish up my reread that way? I actually kind of like that plan, but we’ll see!

Oh, and I really enjoyed Jessie Mihalik’s new book, Hunt the Stars, which is making me itch to go back and reread her Consortium trilogy! I think Hunt the Stars is tied in second place with Polaris Rising for my favorite Mihalik book (Aurora Blazing is definitely first), but it’d be fun to go back and confirm! Especially since that and my Innkeepers reread is putting me in a real scifi frame of mind right now.

Ugh, there are just so many books to reread! I have a dozen books that have been on hold for ages at the library, too, that I really want to read, not to mention a couple of arcs I need to get to, my physical books I own and want to read, and the Kindle Unlimited books I have checked out and want to pick up. I’m trying to pause and make myself cycle through some of those other things I want to read, but I suspect I’ll come back to rereading pretty quickly! It’s been really nice having so many great books to read lately, and it’s so fun to see what I pick up on when I reread or what I don’t remember at all.

What are some of your favorite books to reread, or books you’re hoping to reread soon? Let me know in the comments!
