Big News! Life and Blog Update

I’m just going to cut straight to the point: I have a new job!

You might have noticed that I haven’t been posting as regularly the last few weeks, and that’s for a number of reasons, but a lot of it is because I’ve been interviewing and then working extra hours to get everything ready before leaving my old job, so I just haven’t had the time.

I wasn’t actively looking to change positions, but I kept getting contacted by recruiters on LinkedIn and just decided one day to talk to them and see what happened, and before I knew it, I had a new job lined up! Apparently the legal marketing sector is a busy market in New York right now.

I’m pretty excited about my new job and think it will make for a good learning experience and a nice change of pace, but there are definitely a few negatives about my new position: I actually have to start commuting again and I have to be in to work pretty early (fyi, I’m not a morning person). I’ll also be working a lot more hours, which is unfortunately going to be cutting into my reading and blogging time.

As a result, I’m going to cut back on blogging and change my blogging schedule a bit. Instead of posting four days a week, I’m only going to commit to posting twice a week: Monday and Thursday. I’m hopeful that most weeks I’ll also have posts go up on Saturdays, but we’ll just have to wait and see what my new schedule is like. For now, Saturdays will be my designated bonus post day.

As part of cutting back, I’m going to discontinue my biweekly Book News posts. I’m playing around with some ideas that will allow me to continue doing that in some iteration because I’m really excited to talk about upcoming books on my blog, but the best way to keep up with bookish news around the internet that grabs my attention is to follow me on Twitter. That’s where I get most of my bookish news, and I retweet all of it that I’m personally excited about.

So yeah, some big changes! In some ways it feels a bit like the end of an era, as I’ve been posting four days a week almost since I launched my blog, and I’ve really enjoyed being able to produce so much bookish content. But I just don’t think it’s going to be a sustainable practice with the demands of my new job.

Also, because I don’t think I say this nearly enough, thank you so much for reading my blog!! It’s been such a fun experience, and I’ve absolutely enjoyed creating content and bonding with you all over our love of books! I’m excited for my blog to continue growing and evolving in the future.
